Hosted at Game Roost in Auckland’s North Shore, SHOGUN CUP is a year-long Warhammer 40K league designed to grow skills, build community, and crown one ultimate champion.

What Is SHOGUN CUP?

SHOGUN CUP is Game Roost’s flagship Warhammer 40K league, running across three seasons per year, with escalating points levels and cumulative battle scores.

It’s built for:

  • New and experienced Warhammer 40K players

  • Players looking for structured league play in NZ

  • Anyone searching for a welcoming Warhammer community in Auckland

  • At the end of the year, only the strongest commanders remain…

How the League Works

  • 3 Seasons per year

  • Each season runs 10–14 weeks

  • 5 games per season, scheduled flexibly

  • Army sizes increase each season

  • Battle points carry over across all seasons

After all three seasons conclude, the top 8 players qualify for the Ultimate Shogun Cup — a 2-day, single-elimination, invite-only Warhammer 40K showdown.

The Ultimate Shogun – 2025

After 3 seasons, 40 weeks, and 18 games, we have our Top 8 Warhammer 40K players...

PRESENTING OUR TOP 8 SHOGUN FINALISTS....

Top 8 game was Luke's Astra Militarum vs Clive's Dark Angels, Charlie's Necrons vs Alexis' Orks, James' Aeldari vs Joel's Blood Angels and Ben's Aleldari vs Ronin's Thousand Sons.

As Round 1 ended, and because it's a single elimination, Luke, Charlie, James and Ronin claimed victory to move on to the Top 4 game.

This time it was Luke vs Charlie and James vs Ronin.

The Immortals proved too powerful as the Necrons defeated the Guard, 80-66 as the Aeldari also defeated the Thousand Sons, 85-56.

And so there were 2. Congratulations Charlie and James!

TOP 2 CONTENDERS

Charlie and his Necrons emerged victorious, earning the title of Ultimate Shogun’s Favoured.

Massive respect to James (Aeldari) for a hard-fought final

And Luke (thanks for stepping in, Jesse! 😁) taking 3rd place and Best General for most Victory Points across the year!
