Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game where you create a character and go on adventures guided by a Dungeon Master (DM). The DM builds the world, controls the monsters, and narrates the story. You and your fellow adventurers make the decisions, roll the dice to see what happens, and try not to get your party slain in the process.

It’s part improv, part strategy, and part epic storytelling. All you need is a set of dice, a character sheet, and a party of friends ready to see if your bold plans, clever tricks, and daring feats can outwit dragons and conquer every adventure.

I'm completely new to D&D. Where do I start?

If you’ve never played the Dungeons and Dragons board game in NZ, getting started is easier than you might think. All you need is a D&D Starter Set—they come with pre-made characters, a set of dice, a simplified rulebook, and an adventure you can play straight out of the box.

How long does a typical DnD session last?

Most groups play for around 3-4 hours per session, though shorter 2-hour sessions work well for beginners or weeknight games. A full campaign can stretch across months (or years, if your DM keeps adding side quests).

The beauty of Dungeons and Dragons is that it fits around your schedule. Some groups meet weekly, others monthly, and some just play during school holidays!
